Fireworks on the 4th

For the first time in about 5 years we were able to see fireworks on the 4th of July!

Noah had a pretty rough day. We were supposed to go to friends' for a cookout but (as I have probably written before) holidays can often be rough on special needs kiddos, Noah included. He doesn't like to do things that aren't in his routine and holidays don't follow his normal routine so they give him anxiety and sometimes freak him out. So, we play things by ear.

I ended up sending J to the cookout alone in the hopes that Noah would calm down by the time it got late enough for fireworks.

So I made a flag pizza..........
Original idea seen at Della Creates. Above is my version.

And after dinner, Rice Krispie treats, a bath, some red, white, and blue PJs, and his nightly meds, Noah seemed MUCH calmer and said he'd like to try some fireworks.

There was a fireworks show pretty close by so we headed down there, took a blanket, parked where we could easily leave if Noah freaked, and watched some fireworks. He did really did and enjoyed it.

Yay for actually getting to see fireworks ON the 4th of July!
