Scrapping Saturday: Noah the Artist

I love how this page turned out. My favorite part is the easel. If you look closely, that's one of Noah's paintings on the easel.

March OLW Layouts and Blog Hop

The March assignment in the One Little Word class I am taking at Big Picture Classes was to come up with and execute "one little action" in relation to our word and then document it.

My word for 2012 is breathe and just as with February's assignment, initially I had trouble coming up with an action but then I stopped thinking so much of the word itself and began to think about the things I'd listed in January that I hoped to bring into my life as a result of this word like peace, reflection, calmness, and the ability to enjoy the small moments in life.

Suddenly it dawned on me - what better way to reflect on the small moments that by preserving them through (digital) scrapbooking which is also an activity that makes me feel peaceful and calm. So, it was a winning solution for many reasons.

We were provided with a template to document our thoughts and progress through the month which you will see in the first layout below and then I made a second layout to show the pages I'd made as per my action.

I'm also participating in the OLW Blog Hop this month so if you popped over because of that, your next stop will be Naomi's blog, Poetic Aperture

Scrapping Saturdays: Are you Ready for Some Football?

As I recently mentioned, I have been doing some digital scrapbooking lately. I think that I will share some of my pages here on Saturdays.

This is my favorite page I have done recently....
I love how this page of Noah in his Clemson jersey before the Orange Bowl turned out. Cutting the person in a photo out of the photo was one of my favorite techniques when I was doing traditional paper scrapbooking years ago but this was the first time I had ever done it digitally and I just love the impact it makes!

Monthly Digi Scrapping Layouts

One of my goals for 2012 was to try and stay a bit more up to date on my (digital) scrapbooking. I actually find it really calming and therapeutic for me to work on preserving my family's memories. I decided that I will do monthly recap pages featuring a few photos taken during that month and then fill in with other pages when there are big events during the month.

I'll be sharing some of my digital scrapbooking pages here and since I just completed recap pages for January and February, I'll be sharing those with you today.

Feb OLW Layouts and Blog Hop

The assignment for February in the One Little Word class I am taking at Big Picture Classes was to photograph our word in our everyday lives and plug those into the provided template as well as take one photograph and journal over it.

My word for 2012 is breathe and at first, this was hard for me but then I stopped thinking of it so literally, I noticed that I had pictures of things I turned to when I was stressed and needed to breathe so I continued on with that theme. And I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

I'm also participating in the OLW Blog Hop this month so if you popped over because of that, your next stop will be Melissa C.'s blog, Smudges in Time.

One Little Word: January

As I mentioned before I am taking the One Little Word 2012 class at Big Picture Classes. Our prompts this month involved digging deeper and exploring our word with definitions, synonyms, and quotes. Below is my January layout.....

Creating this layout and the class thus far has been fun and some really good "me" time.
I'm excited to see what February brings!

Project 365: The Layouts Thus Far

I've been a bit behind on creating the week layouts of my Project 365 pictures. I'm doing things a little bit different as opposed to some of the other layouts I've seen.

I'm doing one week on a page as opposed to one week on two pages like others. This will cut down on the number of pages needed and I'll be able to have everything in one book. I'm also breaking things up by month. Each month will have a "cover page" where I'm choosing a favorite picture from that particular month. And each month will have its own color scheme. So, here are the layouts from January.....

The 32 Year Old Me

I took the pictures of myself featured in this layout the day before my 32nd birthday. I usually don't like pictures of myself very much but for some reason, I liked these so I decided to make a little "32 year old me" layout. I love the way it turned out and think this is something I'm going to start each year!

I used a digital scrapbooking kit by Shabby Pumpkin but I don't think her kits are available anymore.

Digital Scrapbooking Take 2

I've picked up digi scrapbooking again! I actually started about three years ago when I was working on a project that I wanted to finish quickly. I then decided that I liked digi scrapbooking better than traditional scrapbooking. It's so much easier on me because I don't have to drag out a ton of things only to be interrupted ten minutes later and have to put everything away. With digi scrapping, I just hit save and come back to it when I can. Then last year, when I had major computer problems I lost some of my programs but lately I've really felt the urge and need to scrap, so I took advantage of some of the many freebies in cyberspace.

When I started back up this go 'round and was looking at all the digi scrapbooking stuff on the net, I became a bit frustrated at first because everything had flowers or other girlie elements and I have a boy. But then I came to the conclusion that this is our family album, not an album soley for Noah, so the flowers and girlie elements (which I love!) are ok.

So, here's my first page in forever. Whatcha think?
