Snowflake Pin/Ornament

This is another one of my super easy because life, a kid, a husband, a house, and a bad back get in the way at the holidays - type of projects!

A cute little snowflake face! You can make it as an ornament or turn it to a pin and wear it proudly.

To make your own, you will need:

White Cardstock
Snowflakes (I used wooden ones purchased at Hobby Lobby but you could cut them with your Silhouette too!)
Glue (I used E-6000)
Bakers Twine or Pin Back (depending on whether or not you are making a pin or an ornament)
Mod Podge Dimensional Magic
Snowy Face File (I created this file myself in the Silhouette Studio Software and I'm sharing it here. While I sized this to fit the snowflakes I was using, you can re-size it to fit yours.)

How to make your own:
1. Using the print and cut feature in the Silhouette software, cut out as many faces as you need.

2. Dab a little glue in the middle of the snowflake and glue on the snowy face.

3. Once it is dry, put on the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic (MPDM). Start with the center of the face and work your way out squeezing slowly the MPDM bottle. Have a straight pin handy and pop out any air bubbles that arise. Let this dry for at least several hours. If you move it before it dries, the MPDM will run leaving your snowy face looking blurry.

4. Glue on a pin back or add some bakers twine and you're done!

Isn't she adorable?!? These make great ornaments, adorable pins, and would even look so cute embellishing a Christmas gift under the tree and best part - minus drying time, it takes less than 10 minutes!

Candy Cane Mice

My Mom has made a TON of these adorable candy cane mice. She'll be selling them at the church craft show this weekend. I think she really enjoyed making them and they are just adorable. They'll make a great gift for a classroom full of kiddos and terrific stocking stuffers. And you could even hang them by the tail on a tree!

Cute, traditional Christmas colors candy cane mice

Sweet little grey mouse

Of course, I loved the teal one.

A tiger version is a must in our family.

She's selling them all packaged up in a cello bag with a cute little tag.

Aren't they sweet!

Here's a tutorial and template if you want to make your own!

Post It Note Holders

I have seen some really cute post it note holders on other paper crafting blogs (like these) and decided to create my own version.

This is what I came up with.......

It has velcro to close it.

And it holds a package of post it notes.

And is decorated with a cute little tag.

They are pretty easy to make. I created a cut file in my Silhouette Studio Software so it cuts and scores it for me but you could also cut them by hand if you don't have a Silhouette machine. You are essentially just cutting and folding the paper around the package of post its.

I think these would make great little gifts for friends, family, co-workers, and teachers.

This Year's Snow Bars

Every year I make what I have come to call "Snow Bars." They are candy bars (I use Hershey's chocolate bars though you could really use any type of candy bar) wrapped up to look like snowmen. I first made these for a craft show a few years back and they were a big hit and remain a big hit every year.

Over the years, I have varied how I make these just a little bit. Originally I wrapped the bars with white paper and then drew on the snowman features. But last year, I discovered these printable wrappers by Laurie Furnell and have been using them ever since. Laurie shares this file for free and you can download it here.

For the hats I use children's socks. I get them at The Dollar Tree and you get three pairs of socks for 1.00. This year, I started by them in the summer as soon as they started putting out cute children's socks. I cut off the toe part of the sock and discard then I slip the sock over the top of the bar to create the snowman's hat, roll it up a little bit, and then I secure it with a little bit of glue under the sock so it doesn't slip off when they are being handled. I then tie a bit of ribbon at the top of the hat.

These little bars are easy and inexpensive to put together and remain one of my favorite Christmas crafts!

ETA: It looks like the freebie is no longer for sell but you can purchase the wrapper file on Etsy for $1.00 here

Snow Patties

The minute I saw this version of what I have come to call "Snow Patties" I knew that I had to make them.

Here's how mine turned out.........

Aren't they adorable? I think they'd make a great stocking stuffer or a sweet little gift for a neighbor, friend, teacher, or co-worker! Want to know how I made them?? Let's get started!

You will need:
Round peppermint patties (I admit that these were difficult to find! I searched about 6 stores before I finally found the round ones. The Christmas ones that are red and green are not in round packages, they are in square packages and I don't think they'd work too well for this.)
Black cardstock
White cardstock
Adhesive of your choice (I used glue dots and my Xyron machine)
Pretezel Bags (You can find these in the cake decorating/candy section of your local craft store.)
Ribbon
1 1/2 inch circle punch
2 inch scallop circle punch
Snowman face printable which you can download here
Tape

1. Print your snowman faces out and punch one out with the circle punch. Punch 2 more circles out of white cardstock with the circle punch.
2. Punch 6 scalloped circles using the scalloped punch out of black cardstock. Punch 6 circles out of the black cardstock using a regular hole punch. These will become your buttons.
3. Adhere each of the white circles to one of the black scalloped circles. I ran the white circles through my Xyron machine but you could just use glue dots for these as well. Now, using the glue dots glue these to the front of your Peppermint Patties.
4. Adhere the small black circle "buttons" to the middle and lower part of your snowman and a black hat to snowman's face. (I cut the black hat using a shape I created in the Silhouette software but you could free hand one or find one online to use as a guide.)
5. Adhere the three remaining black scalloped circles to the back of each of the Peppermint Patties.
6. Grab the middle and lowest part of your snowman and turn those over. Put a small piece of tape on the back to keep them together. Slide them into your pretzel bag.
7. Loosely tie a piece of ribbon around the bag to be your snowman's scarf.
8. Add the snowman's face to the pretzel bag. Fold the bag down in the back and tape it closed.

And you are done!

I big puffy heart these snow patties!

Acrylic Frame Post It Note Holders

I recently made some acrylic frame post it note holders for an upcoming craft fair and thought I would share. They are inexpensive and easy to make up. They make awesome gifts for teachers, co-workers, friends, etc!

Using an acrylic picture frame, which you can find at most Dollar Stores and other stores like WalMart, you can make a cute little spot to hold your post it notes for your desk like this...............

Materials Needed:
  • Acrylic Picture Frame (You will need the type of acrylic frame that has a stand on it. Both 4x6 and 5x7 work great and are about 1.00 at Walmart and Dollar Stores.)
  • Scrapbook Paper
  • Ribbon
  • Embellishments (Stickers, flowers, buttons, rub ons, etc. You could even personalize with the recipient's initials)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Post it notes

Instructions:
1. Trim the scrapbook paper so that it fits inside the frame. Once it’s trimmed, place it inside the frame.
2. Glue some ribbon to the top of your frame.
3.  Embellish if you desire.
4. Add your post it notes. When I make them for craft fairs, I actually glue the post it notes on since they were being transported and shuffled around but when they are just sitting on your desk, you really don't have to glue them on, they stay on just fine without the glue.

Here's a few more I recently made:
Go Tigers!

I decided to do something a bit different with the one above and below and added a little calendar instead of an embellishment.

Sometimes there is a little confusion about how these post it note holders sit so I tried to take a couple of pics to better show that.

This is how it looks when it is standing normally as a picture frame.

And this is how it looks when you turn it to use it as a post it note holder.

Hopefully, those pics better clarify!
