God Chose Me for Him

A friend had the below poem on her Facebook page. As I read it, I got misty eyed. It reminds me of my mantra, "I was made for this." I know in my heart that God made me for this and chose me for Noah.

If before you were born,
I could have gone to Heaven and saw all the beautiful souls,
I still would have chosen you...

If God had told me,
"This soul would one day need extra care and needs",
I still would have chosen you.

If God had told me,
"This soul may make your heart bleed",
I still would have chosen you.

If God had told me,
"This soul would make you question the depth of your faith",
I still would have chosen you.

If God had told me,
"This soul would make tears flow from your eyes that could fill a river",
I still would have chosen you.

If God had told me,
"This soul may one day make you witness overbearing suffering",
I still would have chosen you.

If God had told me,
"All that you know to be normal would drastically change",
I still would have chosen you.

Of course, even though I would have chosen you,
I know it was God who chose me for you.

You were Made for This: BFF Style

When my BFF came all the way to me for a couple of hours so I could do her family pictures I made her pose for a photo just for me and do a little "You Were Made for This" photo.

And she made me pose for one too.......

You Were Made for This Fridge Reminder

Recently I was feeling nervous about something and my sweet hubby was reassuring me and told me, "You were made for this."

He then wrote this little reminder on the dry erase board that hangs on our fridge.

The "You were Made for This" Project

It all started not too long before my son Noah was scheduled to have major Scoliosis surgery. I was feeling a myriad of different emotions and wondering how to cope.

One night after getting Noah to bed, I relaxed with some hot tea while watching American Idol and one of the contestants (Lacey Brown) spoke about her nerves and how her mom always said to her, “You were made for this.” When I heard those words, it felt like someone was speaking to me. They were telling me I was made for this. I was made to be Noah’s Mom, I was made for this life.

I was reminded of this scripture.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful."

It was a real ah-ha moment for me. God made me for my life. He molded me and sculpted me knowing that I could do this – through the good times and the bad.

“You were made for this” has become my mantra. I say it to myself when times are tough and it is a comfort to me.

One night I was getting creative with my camera and I took a picture of myself in the mirror with a post it note that said “You were made for this.” I love how the picture turned out and as I was editing the photos I started coming up with other ways to photograph that phrase.

Thus a new creative project was born. I’m challenging myself over the next year to take as many different photos of my mantra phrase and eventually I’ll make a collage with them for my studio wall or possibly make a little coffee table book with them – or maybe do both!

So be prepared to see lots of "You were Made for This" photos. And if you have a great idea for a "You were Made for This" photo, I'd love to hear it!

Reminder: You Were Made for This

Sometimes I need a little reminder......
Since writing the original "I was made for this post" back in May this has become my motto for all things in my life. (I even have a bracelet that sports this motto.) It might seem silly to some but it just reminds me that no matter what obstacles come my way or my family's way God made us for each of the challenges and triumphs in our life.

I was made for this.

PS. Taking this photo and the reminder was fun so you might be noticing more. ;)

You were Made For This Bracelet

I received this beautiful bracelet in the mail from a couple of friends. Engraved on the heart are the words, "You are made for this" which have become my mantra since writing the "I was made for this post" a couple of months back.

Thanks girls! I will be wearing this tomorrow to remind myself that He made me for this - he made me for Noah.

You Were Made for This

I have been in a mood lately. I've been angry - not at anyone in life specifically but just at the situation in my life. I'm angry that Noah has to have this upcoming surgery. Kind of petty I guess because it is not anything that any of us can control but I still am just angry that he has to go through this. It's all made me moody lately and I have just been dreading what is about to come.

I had an "ah ha" moment earlier in the week. Once again, bedtime has become a huge battle for Noah and I. Once he finally gives in, I creep downstairs quietly, enjoy some tea, and try to decompress as I watch something I had DVRed earlier in the week. So, I was watching the girls night of American Idol. Lacey Brown was about to sing and they were running a little pre-recorded piece where she was talking about what she does before she sings and she said that she tells herself "I was made for this." She said her Mom has always told her,  "You were made for this."

It just sorta clicked then and there. I was made for this. No, being the Mom of a child with special needs isn't easy and it's not fun, but I really do think it was in His plan. He made me for this life, my life. He made me for this situation. He made me for Noah.

Immediately two verses were brought to mind, one of which is a long time favorite.

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful."

And the second verse brought to mind, one of my all time favorites:

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11

So, while I might not be loving this upcoming chapter of my life, for some reason it's in His plans. He made me for this, he knows I will make it through it and be stronger on the other side. With Him I can do this. I can fulfill His plans because I was made for this.

~

Edited to Add: Since writing this post, I have fully embraced "You were Made for This" as my mantra and even took it on as a photography project taking different photos in different settings with my mantra. Click here to see all the photos thus far.
