Bless the Broken Road that Led me Straight to Him

Ten years ago tomorrow, April 20th, 2001 at 6:36 PM there was a knock at my apartment door. It was my date, who you all now affectionally know as J. We went to a baseball game.

Little did I know, that knock at the door would literally change my life. Little did I know then that my date was destined to be my soul mate.

Eight years ago today, April 19th 2003, at 6:30 PM, holding onto my Daddy's arm, I walked down to an "aisle" of 22 steps, through a military like arch of baseball players holding baseball bats onto that same baseball field, met J at home plate, and married him.

It was a broken road that led me to J. But ultimately it was worth it because without that road, I might not have found him. We've had bumps along the journey - lots of them - but we are strong and together we can make it through anything.

Happy Anniversary Babe!

"I set out on a narrow way many years ago,
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you."

"Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like Northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God Blessed the broke road
That led me straight to you."

"I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there to understand
It's all a part of a greater plan
That is coming true."

"Now I'm just rolling home
Into my lover's arms,
This much I know is true
God blessed the broken road that led me straight to you."

  1. Happy Anniversary! Ours was this past Saturday. We were married April 17, 1999. Today would of been my Moms B-day if she was still living.
